CityKey Benefits

The card will be accepted as identification by all the departments of the city, and may be used to access library services, and as a Ventra card, used for electronic payment of the Chicago public transportation system.

In addition, residents will be able to use the CityKey Card to get discounts in theaters, museums, restaurants, gyms, and Lyft transport services. This includes 50 % off on the purchase of tickets for the Goodman Theater, 25 % off attractions of the Navy Pier and a free day at the Field Museum.

Protected Data and Confidential Use

Regarding the personal information provided by card applicants, Secretary Valencia said that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service will not be able to access it and copies will not be kept to protect their confidentiality. In addition, the data required by the city will be minimal.
The CityKey will only include name, date of birth, address, expiration date and gender. Applicants may choose the genre of their choice.

Cost and Where to Obtain it

The ID will be free for the first 100 thousand people who complete their application, and for all people over 65. For children under 17, the price will be five dollars, and for people over 18, the cost will be 10 dollars.

To apply for the card, applicants must present proof of identity and residence.
Cards will be issued starting on Monday, April 30 at Kennedy King College, located at 6301 S. Halsted Street, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
