Thousands of women who clean offices, banks, malls, supermarkets, among other places, have become the perfect target for men who, abusing their position at work, constantly harass them and even attack them sexually.
A situation that also affects women field workers who work for long hours and many of whom are undocumented.
Violence and harassment in the workplace
Engaging in these activities places women in a state of vulnerability because many perform their tasks isolated, even late at night in solitary places, and where there are no security cameras to monitor what happens.
Women are easy prey for undercover criminals, and faced with the fear of losing their job or not being believed, they live a life of suffering and do not report cases to the authorities.
This violent reality that thousands of Hispanic women live through in the United States has been reported by a team of Frontline, IRP and Univision journalists who conducted a special investigation entitled “Rape on the Night Shift”.
According to the information presented, the United States Department of Justice receives more than 17,000 cases of sexual abuse per year.
